Master of Health Systems Management Degrees

Health systems management is a general term for all the operational tasks other than actual patient care that are required to keep a hospital or other health facility running.

Health systems managers may be responsible for a range of duties, from financial management to sitting on boards and making decisions about long term development of a facility. A master’s degree is considered the standard level of education for anyone working in health system’s management, though a PhD certainly wouldn’t hurt someone’s chances of getting a job.

This high salary is a result of the complex and high-risk nature of healthcare administration. Hospitals deal with all kinds of liabilities that come with providing medical treatment, and administrators who are good at managing both money and risk are crucial to the success of the business.
